Mine Shift has designed the DIGGER Training program to provide guidance on bystander intervention strategies that empower employees to address inappropriate workplace behaviours that include sexual assault, sexual harassment, racism, bullying, intimidation, and discrimination.
Research shows that bystander intervention training has been successful on University and College campuses, and Mine Shift has created a mining-specific bystander training package to bring this tool to the mining industry. Workers want to know what to do to address inappropriate behaviours when they happen to them or in their presence.
Learning Objectives:
After the workshop, attendees will have the knowledge and skills to become active bystanders (DIGGERs) in their workplace. The attendees will leave knowing how to identify inappropriate workplace behaviours and understand the extent of their impact on workers and workplaces. They will be informed on the inhibitors to engaging in a situation they are facing and how to overcome them. Finally, attendees will have a customized bystander intervention toolkit, practice in its application and skills to safely intervene when inappropriate workplace behaviours happen to them or in their presence.
